Welcome
What is SJF Counselling?
SJF Counselling is a private, independent practice in Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire, UK providing support to individuals and couples (18+), who are facing a life challenge. It is a place where you can feel safe and understood to help overcome any painful experience you may be tackling.
What Type of Counselling Approach is being Delivered?
I am committed to deliver a Person-Centred Counselling Approach (PCA) developed by Carl Rogers which believes that if the client is provided with the right environment, they can feel empowered to make informed decisions independently.
I have experience in providing support to, and building relationships with, clients from diverse backgrounds, cultures and ages.
What Support is Provided?
At SJF Counselling, I provide a safe, secure and private environment for clients to be heard and empowered, allowing space for them to explore life's challenges by expressing feelings, thoughts and emotions at their own pace.
Through my counselling work, I am focussed on providing support for clients to gain a better understanding of themselves and their relationships with others.
Whether clients are struggling with short or long term dilemmas, the environment provided at SJF Counselling is appropriate for each client to feel supported during life's challenges.
What Areas of Specialised Counselling Skills are on Offer?
My specialised area of work covers Anticipatory Grief, Grief and any difficult circumstances resulting from changes in life.
The Anticipatory Grief or Pre-Bereavement work is supporting clients who have had a life changing diagnosis which has had a significant impact on their lives.
The Grief work is supporting clients who have experienced different kinds of grief which include;
The death of a loved one (including suicide),
miscarriage,
relationship breakdown with friends or family,
divorce/separation,
job loss,
redundancy,
menopause
health issues.
I also work with clients who are facing difficult circumstances in life resulting from life's transitions including;
depression,
low self-esteem,
bullying,
anxiety,
loneliness and isolation.
The safe environment I provide offers space to work through and find different solutions relating to these areas,
for example;
parent/parents sharing a medical diagnosis to loved ones.
Explaining to friends and family the impact of a miscarriage.
Reaching out to loved ones when feeling isolated and alone.
The continued counselling support helps towards clients developing robust strategies for making meaning of what is happening.

How Can This Help?
Talking Therapy can help with many different challenges in life, from coping with painful experiences and circumstances, dealing with anxiety and depression to managing negative emotions and actions.
The environment I strive for, during sessions, encourages new and positive proactive thinking strategies by clients, which assist them in being able to manage their problems and solutions independently, finding their own process towards self-healing.
